Hey there! Another week is flying by, and today I’ve got my final What I Wore Lately of the year! (It feels really weird to say that, but January is now less than two weeks away.) This is where I share a snapshot of my everyday outfits—what I wore, where I wore it, and a few thoughts on how each look came together.
But first, the usual disclaimer: This is what I actually wore as I went about my everyday life, so it can get a bit repetitive, and some of the older items are no longer available. I’ll link up other options and similar-for-less styles where I can.
Real Outfits, Real Life: What I Actually Wore
SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.
I had a photo shoot last Wednesday morning, and then I wore this comfy outfit to work from home for the rest of the day. FYI, Jenni Kayne just announced a surprise 20% off sale through 12/24!
I have this cashmere fisherman sweater in ivory and grey, but for some reason I usually reach for the ivory. I actually wore this grey one that day because I realized it wasn’t getting worn, and I told myself I need to start wearing it or donate it.

And that right here is my case for not buying multiple colors of the same item. It’s so temping, when you love something and wear it a lot, to think buying another one in a different color is a good idea, but almost always, you will reach for one over the other.
If you desire to have a highly curated closet of only items you love to wear and reach for often, try to deny the urge to buy multiples of easy-to-find items (like sweaters—good fitting jeans ore pants are another story.) Anyway! That was quite a tangent. Back to my everyday outfits!
I met friends for dinner the next night, and I had just received my new grey flares, so I wore them with this ‘oatmeal’ colored sweater for a light neutral monochromatic look. I like how the black boots and my dark hair work together to “bookend” the look, and I topped it off with a plum-colored teddy coat. (Mine is from last year, but I found something similar here).

The next day, I had an early morning workout followed by a doctor’s appointment, so I kept this athleisure look on all day. Both the Athleta In Motion Seamless Tee and Athleta Salutation Slash High Rise Lggings are 30% off—and the Salutation Stash High Rise 7/8 Legging in Storm Cloud (which I also have) is marked down even more!
Sidebar: I do buy multiples in activewear b/c I wear it so much and it’s hard to find pieces that check all the boxes.

I wore this next outfit to a nail appointment. This sweater is a favorite from last season, and it’s currently on sale, plus an extra $50 off (taken in cart)! Also, these jeans just went back on sale. Mine are an older wash, but this one looks very similar.

The next night we met friends at a local wine bar. I took a late afternoon nap and then showered and dressed late in the day. By the time I was ready, it was too dark to get a mirror selfie, so I had Paul take this photo in our foyer.
I wore that plum teddy coat again. (It was suuuuuper cold out, and I knew we’d have to walk a distance from our car to the restaurant. )The colors in this picture are a little wonky, but I thought the blush sweater and plum coat with grey jeans were a pleasing color combination.

I wore this cozy look to church the next day. This grey car coat was an #NSale find, and unfortunately, I haven’t been able to track down anything quite like it. This sweater, however, is great quality and currently on sale. The ‘Red Grape’ color is low in stock, but there are other options available. It runs true to size—I’m wearing a small.

That afternoon, I hosted a Christmas Tea for the women in our church. I was afraid I’d be too hot in the turtleneck, so I changed into this green cardigan. With the washed black jeans, I think it creates a nice balance of festive and casual.

I really wanted to wear my new Sam Edelman mesh slingbacks with the black dots (wearing above), but I didn’t think my feet could handle it, so I ended up swapping them out for the flat Franco Sarto snake print slingbacks. They work, but the other ones are a little more fun for the holidays.

I had Pilates the next day, and this is my typical uniform. I usually start out in the lightweight hoodie and remove it once I’ve warmed up. FYI, this Athleta Ascent Seamless Tank is currently 40% off! It’s one of my favorite tanks because it does not require a racerback bra, like so many workout tanks do. I wore my long puffer on top because it was cold and rainy, and I knew I might need to park far away.

My daughter and I had plans to go to the mall that afternoon, and it was still kind of rainy, but I hate to wear a heavy coat to the mall, so I tried a look with a quilted vest. I’m still trying to like those grey MOTHER The Tomcat Ankle Fray straight ankle jeans…but something about the length feels awkward with sneakers; it’s like they need to be a half inch shorter or a half inch longer. I know I could cut them, but I’m not sure I’d like them better that way and I hate to ruin them.

I thought maybe I’d like them better with boots… plus, I didn’t want to get my suede sneakers dirty i the rain. I do think this looks better, although these boots have a fairly low shaft, so the hem of the jeans tends to get caught up in the tabs on the back.

At the end of the day, these jeans never seem to look quite right on me. They do a weird thing in the thigh area that bugs me. Am I overthinking it?
Probably, but I switched to these flares, and they make me so much happier. They have a nice sleek fit through the thighs and then a subtle flare from knee to hem, which balances my hips and shoulders. I also swapped the henley tee for a cashmere sweater because it was damp and chilly outside, and I like this outfit so much better.

But, would you believe it? After all that, I ended up swapping out the quilted vest for my rain coat because I realized it was raining harder than I originally thought. I know, I’m certifiable. I almost didn’t even take another picture, but I figured I’d keep it real.

Also, this sweater is included in the Jenni Kayne sale. It’s so luxe and gorgeous with an easy fit, and this color is so versatile. Highly recommend if you’re looking to splurge or spoil someone for Christmas. I am so tempted to order another color because I wear this so much, but I am determined to resist the urge. (See my case for not buying multiple colors of the same item at the top of this post!)
The next day, I had another workout, followed by a quick trip to the mall to grab a Christmas gift, and then a dentist appointment. Normally, I’d try to go home and change before going to the mall or the dentist, but I didn’t have time, so I figured, who cares? I wore my new grey leggings and white fleece funnel neck sweatshirt from Athleta, which are both 40% off right now.

We had tickets to a concert last Saturday night, and I tried one more time to love those like those grey MOTHER The Tomcat Ankle Fray straight ankle jeans… I thought they might pair well with ivory, which they do.

But then I realized my sweater had a big stain on the front, and I still wasn’t feeling those jeans, so I switched to the grey flares and this camel sweater—an old favorite that I haven’t worn yet this season. I knew it would be easy to layer a cute jacket or coat on top, and I had this new necklace I wanted to wear, so the v-neck worked well for that.

I debated a long coat, but I wanted to wear the faux leather puffer, so I decided to risk it and it worked out fine. It was cold, but we didn’t have to walk too far. I added a belt and a front tuck to make it look more intentional.

Last Saturday was a rather lazy day. I spent most of the day at home piddling around the house and wrapping presents, and then my daughter and her boyfriend came over to make Christmas cookies that evening. I threw this sweater on again because it’s so comfy and cozy, and it just makes me happy.

We had friends over to watch the Eagles game last Sunday night, and I wore this simple outfit with a sleek black hoodie. I like my brown adidas Spezials so much, I ordered this white and black pair, and I love how they tie into the black from the hoodie.
Okay, so I guess I make an exception to the multiples rule with shoes too, lol! I’m not hard to fit, so I probably should be more selective with shoes, but I will say, I do tend to wear both colors when I buy multiples of shoes.

This was Monday, and I worked from home all day after an early morning workout appointment. This LOFT sweater is down to $24! It’s a soft and spongy knit, with pretty details and on-trend flared sleeves. It fit better before I washed it, but I still like it.

I met a friend for coffee on Tuesday, and I was rushing to get a post up, so I didn’t take time to put on makeup, but I did throw on real clothes.

And then yesterday, I went back to my trusty Flynn Cashmere Sweater. I’m telling you, when I love something, I want to wear it every day. I thought I would see if I like it with those MOTHER Dazzler in the Nothing Between Us wash that I got on sale during Cyber Week.
I don’t know why I can’t totally get on board with these. I struggle with darker washes, for some reason. Especially in straight leg styles, they always look somewhat dated to me. Plus, the rise on these is rather low, which isn’t as comfortable to me these days. They are supposedly the same rise as The Dazzler that I love and wear all time time, but they don’t feel that way. Maybe it’s because mine are so stretched out after a gazillion wears?

Anyway! I ended up swapping them out for these MOTHER Weekenders that I haven’t worn a lot lately, and I was much happier. They still have a dark wash, but the flare silhouette with the low heeled boot looks so much better to my eye. Also, the extra 1/4″ in the rise feels so much better. (And it probably helps that I sized up to a 30 in these!)
This sweater looks good with either brown or black shoes, so I decided to go with brown and carry that Michael Kors suede hobo that I listed in my most regrettable fashion purchases of 2024. I love it, but I don’t seem to reach for it that much. I decided to intentionally carry it, and I’m so glad I did. It really makes this outfit. (And it looks great with my green quilted jacket with the chocolate brown corduroy trim. I need to remember this pairing.)

And that’s a wrap for this week… and for this year, I guess! I hope this post gives you a little outfit inspiration for the winter season. If you’re feeling inspired to try something new, I’d love to hear what caught your eye!
