New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and the street style moments are just as exciting as the runway. Case in point? Former Byrdie cover girl Dove Cameron’s look at the Collina Strada show on February 6. While the show itself was major—including “femmepire hair,” leopard spot makeup, and upcycled bridal gowns—Cameron did a little upcycling of her own when it came to her cute hair look. The best part? It’s extremely easy to copy right now—no need to wait until next season.

Dove Cameron's Unplugged Buns

The pop star’s entire look was a head-turner, but of course, our eyes went right to her hair. Cameron’s longtime hair stylist, Jacob Rozenberg, middle-parted her hair, and slicked it back into two space buns right at the crown of her head—where a classic ballerina bun would be. Her front pieces were left out (a signature Cameron style) to frame her face. Rozenberg created a spiky effect at the base of the buns, but the pièce de résistance was the wired Apple earbuds wrapped around each bun.

Per a press release, Cameron was deeply inspired by the intersection of fashion and technology—a major theme on her upcoming album—and wanted to put her own spin on wearable tech. She brought the idea to Rozenberg as "a statement on reimagining the past for the future—breathing new life into something once discarded."
Her Full Collina Strada Fit
Of course, Cameron completed the look with a head-to-toe outfit from the New York-based designer. On top, she went with a sheer mesh top embellished with 3D floral appliques. On the bottom, she wore an asymmetrical brown plaid skirt, and a pair of white Collina Strada x Puma sneakers.

As for makeup, her go-to MUA Kale Teter crafted a girly-goth look. Her skin was glowing and even, and he brushed some poppy pink blush on her cheeks—that would be the girly part. For the goth elements, he lined Cameron’s eyes with black liner, accentuating her inner corner and added fluttery lashes to her outer corner. A greige lipliner and brown lipstick was the cherry on top.
