Bridget Jones is Mad About the Boy, and I'm mad about Bridget Jones. Or rather, I'm mad about the actress who plays Bridget Jones, miss Renée Zellweger. I love her Texas twang that can transform into an adorable British accent. I love Chicago. And I love love love her red carpet glam.

After a recent headline-making, David Bowie-inspired chop that transported her back 26 years to her own fling with a pixie cut, Zellweger pulled out the extensions for the world premiere of her new movie. Walking the red carpet in London on January 29, she wore an effortless updo fit for a romcom heroine who can’t help but be caught between multiple men at all times. She’s just so charming!

Renée Zellweger's Romcom Updo

The hair was the work of Richard Collins, who expertly turned the will-they-or-won’t-they movie trope into an is-it-or-is-it-not-a-ponytail updo. As any good plot progression would have it, the crux of the look was revealed in the nick of time when Zellweger spun around on the red carpet so costar Leo Woodall could whisper in her ear. No, it wasn’t a low ponytail. Instead, Zellweger’s blonde locks were expertly twisted and secured to the side of her head with some invisible pins.

Flowing over one shoulder (that's where the low pony illusion came in), the 55-year-old's blonde hair was softly curled the way a romance protagonist's always is when they roll out of bed after a solid 10 hours of sleep. Up top, Collins added some tousled teasing and a single piece of face framing to further the effortless narrative.

Her Vintage Gown and Fresh-Faced Glow

Unsurprisingly, the rest of Zellweger’s premiere glam was also fit for a dynamic love interest. Makeup artist Kindra Mann offered a fresh-faced glow with just a touch of blush to emphasize the star’s stunning cheekbones. Her short nails featured a swipe of glossy clear polish (that’s it!) and her dress was oh-so-romantic: a hot pink, strapless vintage Balmain gown from 2000, the year before the original Bridget Jones’s Dairy premiered.

Talk about a meet-cute moment the first time you locked eyes with this look, huh? It really was love at first sight.
