On a cold, dreary winter day, leave it to Rihanna to bring some color to the world. Literally! And this time, the shade in question is pink.
On January 23, the singer’s Savage x Fenty lingerie brand shared the campaign for their new The Les Roses collection on Instagram. In the images, Rihanna herself models the pieces on a field of multicolored roses and rose petals. Like some of the flowers littered around her, her lips are bright red and darkly lined. Like others, her hair is… fuchsia. Dip-dyed fuchsia.

As many will recall from the somehow-good-old-days of the early 2010s, a dip-dye job involves bright-colored tips that stem from typically classic-color roots. Rihanna's take involves a dark shade up top that transitions to a deep pink right around her ears. Worn down and middle parted, the hair itself is lengthy, giving the bright shade plenty of time to shine.

While Rihanna’s own experiences with dip-dyed locks have been few and far between (a surprise, given her star power through the decades and proclivity for a fun hair change), she has had plenty of experience with fun colors. Back in October, she wore her hair cherry red for another Savage x Fenty campaign. Even more recently, she went with a Mocha Mousse shade with cool blonde highlights as she showed off her natural curls. Then, of course, there was her bubblegum pink era, which she brought back last May to the delight of absolutely everyone.

As it goes with most photoshoots (I’m looking at you, Addison Rae’s hot pink manicure), both the magic and tragedy of this look is that it’s probably not here to stay. But it can be for you if you hit up your colorist. The campaign to bring the early 2000s back is going strong, and we all have to do our part.
