What I Wore Lately

What I Wore Lately

Hi, friends! It’s been a while since we’ve done What I Wore Lately, so let’s dive right in! You know the drill, this is a roundup of my everyday outfits, so some things I’m wearing are older and no longer available, but I linked up similar items when I could find them.

What I Wore: Three Weeks of Everyday Winter Outfits

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

This was a typical weekday, working from home and maybe an errand or two, and I had a Pilates class that morning. The leggings are a new Athleta favorite that I’ve been wearing a lot, and the tank is an old Athleta favorite that’s currently 50% off. I love that it’s regular bra friendly.

Then I changed for the rest of the day… Those shoes in the pile beside me are all ones I tried on with this outfit, before deciding to go with the ankle boots. I like the streamlined look.

This was another typical weekday, and this outfit is simple and comfy. This LOFT Rib Trim Wide Sleeve V-Neck Sweater is a great little budget-friendly find—soft and comfy, and I love the ribbed details in the knit and the flared sleeves.

I wore this outfit home after a photo shoot the next day, and I kept it on to meet a friend for dinner that night. It feels a little buttoned-up to me, I don’t know if it’s one I’ll repeat.

I threw on this easy, comfy look for another typical day of work and errands. This Jenni Kayne v-neck sweater is pure luxury, but I also found this one at Old Navy for $20, if anyone is looking for a similar look for less. And after wearing these taupe loafer mules so many times and having nothing similar to link to (they sold out years ago), I’m excited to share that Quince has come out with an almost identical pair.

I was trying to decide which sneakers to wear with this casual look… I often take pictures like this to help me decide.

I went with the Vince Oasis in Malbec because I like how they relate to one of the stripes in the shirt.

And I threw on my Pistola Utility Shacket to run out to a couple of appointments.

I had a photo shoot the next day, and I did some try-ons when I got home. This was the last outfit I tried, and I just kept it on to work from home for the rest of the day. This sweater is really cozy and comfortable.

At about this point, I realized I was pretty much alternating between my three favorite pairs of jeans. What can I say… It’s been cold, life has been casual and rather mundane, and they’re easy and comfy. I’m the kind of person who would be perfectly content wearing the same three pairs of pants all winter long, but since I document my daily outfits for this post, I usually try to change it up a bit more than this.

In an attempt to wear something a little different than jeans and a sweater, I pulled together a casual all-black outfit the next day.

I know… I’m really living on the edge over here! But I really do like this monochromatic look, with the quilted jacket, cozy knit hoodie, and washed black jeans. I think the only place I went was to a hair appointment because that’s about as exciting as my life gets these days, but dangit, I looked cute! 🤪

And I finally got to wear those new adidas Spezial in the Alumina / Core Black / Cloud White. They sold out at Nordstrom, but I found them at Foot Locker.

And then it was back to the MOTHER Weekender and my favorite cashmere v-neck to go to a nail appointment the next day. It was rainy, so I wore hard leather boots. I hate that these rag & bone Chelsea boots sold out, but I found something sorta similar from Dolce Vita.

The next day was the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and I was alone in the house all day with nowhere to go, so it seemed like a good day for my comfy Spanx AirEssentials set and slippers.

I wore this athleisure look the next morning to walk the dog. This is my older Inlet Jacket, and it’s a size small. I got the new Cypress color in a medium, thinking I might need the extra room since, but I still prefer the fit of the small. It’s more flattering, and it has plenty of stretch to accommodate the extra fluff I’ve accumulated this year. All that to say, if you’re ordering one, I would stick with your true size, or size down, if in between. It’s still 50% off!

We had a family birthday party that afternoon, so I actually wore something other than jeans. I know… I hope you were sitting down before you read that.

This sweater dress is really comfy, and I got the husband stamp of approval before I left the house. He assured me that the horizontal stripes did not make my butt look big.

I wore tights and black suede knee boots, and I topped it all off with the Andrew Marc Regine Pressed Bouclé Wool Coat from Saks OFF 5TH, which kept me warm and cozy on a cold and blustery November day.

I wore some of my newest Athleta gear for another walk the the next day, and then I kept it on at home because I had nowhere to go.

And this was another casual day working from home…

I had an appointment with a new doctor one rainy morning last week, and then I went to the mall to get some pants altered, so I decided to level up a bit. I pulled out this Vince sweater from the #NSale back in July and paired it with dark wash flares to create some contrast, and I added brown Chelsea boots. I think this shade of blue is so pretty, and it’s an amazing price right now at Nordstrom Rack! I wore a pewter puffer on top, but I didn’t get any pictures, and it’s sold out.

And that brings us to Thanksgiving! (I guess I skipped a few days of outfit pictures.) We hosted some extended family, and I’m always warm in the kitchen, so I wore a short sleeve mock neck top and crop boot jeans. I felt like the green and brown combo was appropriate for Thanksgiving, and I wanted to wear a different pair of jeans. I have a cute apron I wore on top while I was doing dinner prep, and then I didn’t have to worry about going up to change clothes at the last minute.

The next day, I wore another one of my typical sweater/jeans/sneaker combos.

And then I haven’t been feeling well for the past few days, so I’ve been laying low and not doing much. Yesterday was the first day I showered and put on real clothes… if you can consider this real clothes. It was really cold, and I just had to run out for a quick chiropractor appointment, so I wore fleece lined pants and a sweater hoodie with my UGG mini boots.

I was going to put the Cooper Vest on top, and that would have looked cute, but I just got into my pre-heated car and drove to my appointment, where I knew I could park by the door, so I didn’t bother wearing anything on top. But I grabbed the hoop earrings off the bathroom counter where I had discarded them last Friday, so at least I had an accessory.

You know what they say. The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize… Words to live by, my friends!

And that’s a wrap! Thanks for hanging with me. I have some fun events and plans this month, with the holidays and all, so I should have more variety next time.
