Hey friends, I’ve got a new try-on haul for you today, with lots of fun fall/winter styles from Evereve, Old Navy, LOFT, Gap Factory, and more! I’ve had requests for dresses and non-denim looks, and I’ve got a bunch of those here. I hope it’s helpful!
As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle.
Also, as a heads-up, most of what I’m sharing (except for Evereve) is on sale. Nordstrom is having a Limited Time Sale and Early Black Friday Deals, LOFT is doing a 48-hour sale with 48% off + FREE SHIPPING, Gap Factory is doing 60% off almost everything, Old Navy has a bunch of Early Black Friday Deals, and Jenni Kayne has 25% off site-wide. Okay, let’s get started!
Evereve Ella Stripe Tee
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (30) // Paul Green sneakers (8)
Details: Colorblock stripes add the perfect pop of color to the Ella Long Sleeve by EVEREVE, featuring a crew neckline and a relaxed fit. Pair with denim and your favorite sneakers for a casual and cute look.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 24 1/2″
- Material: 50% Viscose, 50% Cotton Knit Jersey
- Care: Machine Wash,Wash Cold,Hang To Dry
I love this lightweight long-sleeve tee with the stripe detail, it’s almost a “burnout” fabric. Perfect for casual days, and it even has raglan sleeves*, yay! (I have a thing for raglan sleeves, and for a long time, they were really hard to find.)
VERDICT: Keeping!
* A word about raglan sleeves, because they come up a lot in this post: Raglan sleeves create a diagonal line from the neckline to the underarm, which helps de-emphasize a larger bust and squared-off shoulders. Even though my bust isn’t as large as it was before my breast reduction surgery in 2022, I still feel like the raglan sleeves are extremely flattering on me, probably because of my boxy shoulders.
Pistola Utility Shacket
at Evereve (XS) // Ella Tee (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Hadley sneakers (8)
Details: Perfectly oversized, the Utility Shacket from Pistola will be your new go-to layer. Crafted in cotton, this jacket features a front zipper closure with a snap button placket, oversized front utility pockets, and a back pleat detail, finished with a flattering curved hem.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 26″
- Material: 100% Cotton
- Care: Machine Wash,Wash Cold,Tumble Dry Low
I shared this jacket before, but I wanted to follow up with the XS that I re-ordered. It’s supposed to be oversized, but I was worried that it was too big in the Small. This XS looks okay in these pictures, but…
Pistola Utility Shacket, size XS
I’m wearing the small below. It’s roomy, but I think this looks more the way it’s supposed to. And if I want to layer something chunkier underneath, like how I styled this hoodie in this post, I think I’ll be glad I have the small.
Pistola Utility Shacket, size S
VERDICT: I decided to keep the small.
Evereve Aspen Metallic Hoodie
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (30) // Paul Green sneakers (8)
Details: Give your look the perfect shine with this metallic sweater hoodie by EVEREVE. Knit from a shimmery cotton blend, this pullover silhouette features an adjustable drawstring hood, front kangaroo pocket, and wide ribbed trim.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22 1/2″
- Material: 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic Knit
- Care: Hand Wash
I love this metallic sweater hoodie for a casual festive look around the holidays. It has a slightly oversized fit; I almost wonder if I could size down.
VERDICT: I returned this, not because I didn’t like it, but I’m not sure I’d get much wear out of it, and it seems a bit oversized.
Relaxed Fair Isle Mockneck Sweater
at Gap Factory (S) // Straight Leg Jeans (30) // Liza mules (8)
Gap Factory doesn’t give many details, so I’m skipping that part, but this fair isle mock neck sweater is right on trend, and the price is amazing. I love the combination of neutral tones. It has a relaxed fit, and it runs a little big. I’m wearing the small.
VERDICT: Keeping! This sweater is a great price, very comfy, and right on trend.
ColdControl Max Midi Puffer Coat in Off White Oyster
at Gap Factory (M) // Fair Isle Mock Neck Sweater (S) // Straight Leg Jeans (30) // Liza Mules (8)
This jacket is a bit oversized on me; I would need the small, but it’s such a cute coat, and soooo warm. I love the ivory, but it also comes in black and burgundy.
VERDICT: I returned this because it’s too big, but I might re-order in a small. And as much as I like the ivory, I think I’d get more wear out of the black, so… If I reorder, I might get the black in the size small.
Vegan-Leather Sherpa Bomber Jacket
at Gap Factory (S) // Fair Isle Mock Neck Sweater (S) // Straight Leg Jeans (30) // Liza mules (8)
Bomber jackets are having a moment this season, and this one is a really good budget-friendly option. It has the traditional silhouette, and the sherpa spread collar adds a nice element of interest.
VERDICT: I have two leather bombers, so I really don’t need this, but if I diid, I would definitely keep it. It’s a great option at a great price!
CashSoft Ribbed Polo Shirt Sweater Mini Dress
at Gap Factory (M) // Dolce Vita boots (8)
Details:
- 53% Cotton Conventional, 47% Nylon Conventional.
- Machine wash.
I love a sweater dress for fall and winter, and I’ve had a hard timing finding good ones this season, so this ribbed fit and flare sweater dress with the polo collar was a happy surprise! I was afraid it would cling to all the wrong places, but it’s actually quite flattering. I just recommend sizing up, if in between. This Beet Red color is really pretty, but it also comes in Black and Light Grey Heather.
VERDICT: Keeping! I always find myself needing a sweater dress for winter events, and this one might be it! And before you ask, I always wear this slip under sweater dresses.
Sleeveless Velour Mockneck Top
at Gap Factory (M) // Gap Factory Straight Leg Jeans (30) // Cohen flats
Details:
- 90% Polyester Conventional, 10% Elastane Conventional Spandex.
- Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low.
I love a velvet top for holidays, it’s so easy to dress up or down. I would wear this with satin pants for a dressier look, but I also like how it looks dressed down with these black wash jeans. Size-wise, this is a medium, and I wouldn’t mind if it fit looser, so I recommend sizing up a whole size in this one.
VERDICT: I returned, but I may re-order in a large.
LOFT Rib Trim Collared Mini Sweater Dress
at LOFT (S) // similar Sam Edelman boots // Schutz Arissa flats (8)
Details: Finished with sleek front and back ribbed trim and a modern-cool hint of slouch, this soft knit collared sweater dress is a salute to everyday chic. Point collared V-neck. Long sleeves.
- 36″ from shoulder to hem
- 53% Cotton 24% Polyester 20% Nylon 3% Spandex
- Machine Washable
This dress is so easy and comfortable! It would be perfect for Thanksgiving. I tried it with both flats and knee boots, and I especially love how it looks with the boots. They balance the bulkiness of the dress, and the color combination is pleasing, as well.
My boots are from last year, but these are a good option. I also could try my chocolate brown pair, that might make the look more current, and it would also work with black for more of a winter/holiday look. If I wore it with black boots, I would also wear black tights. Also, I often get asked what type of slip I wear under dresses. I have this one (wearing here) and the shorter version.
VERDICT: Keeping!
LOFT Fair Isle Split Neck Sweater
at LOFT (S) // Gap Factory Straight Leg Jeans (30) // Liza mules (8)
Details: A collared neckline adds a little prep, panache, and je ne sais quoi to this polished yet easygoing cotton blend knit. Collared split neck. Long sleeves.
- 23 1/2″ long
- 46% Cotton 19% Polyester 18% Acrylic 15% Nylon 2% Spandex
- Machine Washable
This fair isle sweater is fun, and I like the 23 1/2″ length and the soft spongy knit. It has a nice fit, too, not too snug but not super boxy either. The collared neckline is a nice touch that keeps it current, even though fair isle is already trending, so it’s a two-fer!
I also really like the neutral color palette, and it runs true to size. I styled this sweater with washed black jeans and grey mules (20% off!) to pull from the grey in the sweater. I really like the color palette and proportions of this outfit.
My only issue with this sweater is, those are hearts in the fair isle pattern. I didn’t even realize it until I had it on and was taking photos.
VERDICT: I have a strict rule in my closet: no hearts or bows, so I sent it back. Yep! It’s practically perfect in every way… but those hearts are a deal breaker.
Shaker-Stitch Cardigan in Cozy Cashmere
at Old Navy (S) // Gap Factory Straight Leg Jeans (30) // Schutz Arissa flats
Details: The ultimate classic every closet needs.
- loose fit; hits at hip
- 55% cotton; 23% recycled polyester
Loving this budget-friendly classic cotton blend cardigan in a chunky shaker knit with an easy fit. The contrasting buttons on this ivory color they call Cozy Cashmere is a really nice effect. I styled it with washed black jeans and brown ballet flats (the one exception to my bow rule) to relate to the colors in the buttons.
I also ordered the Rose (shown below) and Black (I didn’t even try that one on. It didn’t excite me; the buttons blended in and it just looked kind of basic.) The White Multi is really pretty too, and would be a cooler shade, whereas this one is kind of warm and yellowy. This sweater runs true to size, and it also comes in tall and petite sizes; and it’s an Old Navy Hot Deal today for $30.99.
VERDICT: I held onto this one and the Rose for now.
High Rise Vintage Corduroy Pants in Noir Red
at Gap Factory (29) – 60% off! // Old Navy sweater (S) // Franco Sarto flats (8)
Details:
- High waisted; Slim, straight leg; 28″ Inseam (regular)
- 93% Cotton Conventional, 5% Cotton Recycled, 2% Elastane Conventional Spandex.
- Machine wash.
These corduroys have a nice slim straight leg fit with an ankle length inseam. Just a good classic pair of pants, and they come in lots of colors. Also in short and long inseams. I would say they run slightly large. I’m very comfortable in the size 29, and I expect they will stretch some with wear, as most Gap Factory cords do.
VERDICT: I’m not sure if I’m keeping these or not; I like them, but I’m not sure I will reach for this color. I still prefer neutrals, but they’re a good option for those wanting to add some subtle color to their wardrobe.
SoSoft Loose V-Neck Sweater in Cherry Bark
at Old Navy (S) // Gap Factory High Rise Vintage Slim Corduroy Pants (29) // Cohen flats
Details: We call it SoSoft, because it’s whipped-soft, not too heavy, not too thin. The goldilocks of sweaters.
- loose fit; hits below waist
- 53% cotton, 24% recycled polyester, 20% nylon
- machine wash
A classic v-neck sweater at an amazing price point. It definitely feels super soft on, not too heavy and not too thin, as described on the website. It has the perfect v-neck, and I love the raglan sleeves. I’m seeing more and more of these lately, and I’m soooo happy the drop shoulder no longer seems to be the default. That went on for far too long.
This sweater comes in a bunch of colors, and it runs true to size. For those who like my Jenni Kayne Flynn in the Shadow color, but the price is a deal breaker, I feel like this one in the Sedimentary is a really good budget-friendly alternative. It’s an Early Black Friday Deal, for $17!!!
VERDICT: I have a Vince sweater from last season that is almost identical to this one in both color and styling, so I don’t think I’ll keep this one, but I would if I didn’t have something like it.
Sanctuary ‘Tis the Season Fair Isle Mock Neck Sweater
20% off at Nordstrom & Bloomies (S) // MOTHER Weekend Flare (30) // Veronica Beard Lada Boots (8.5)
Details: Recycled yarn is knit in a chunky yet lightweight sweater featuring a contemporary Fair Isle pattern and a boxy, oversized fit.
- 24 1/2″ length ( size Medium)
- 100% recycled polyester
- Machine wash, dry flat
Another fair isle option, this one is a really nice knit — chunky yet lightweight is the perfect description for it. I really like this color palette too, and yay, no hearts! But I don’t love the length and the chunky ribbed trim. It needs to be at least an inch shorter, maybe an inch and a half.
I know that sounds picky, but that would make all the difference because it would show the curve of my hips, rather than creating a band right across the widest part of me. When I was trying these on for my IG story last week, I held it up to show the difference, and a lot of people messaged me and said they could see it when I did that. That’s hard to do in these mirror selfies, though.
VERDICT: This one went back, but it’s a good option, especially for the taller ladies among us.
Evereve Esther Pullover
at Evereve // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Veja Esplar
Details: Perfect for your sweater weather wardrobe, the Esther mockneck pullover by EVEREVE features a relaxed silhouette with raglan sleeves, ribbed trim, and vertical seam details at the front and back. Style for the season with a skirt, jeans, or vegan leather pants.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″
- Material: 62% Acrylic, 38% Polyester Knit
- Care: Machine Wash Cold, Dry Flat, Iron Low
I stopped into Evereve last Saturday and ended up trying on a bunch of things, including this sweater. This is a good example of a more flattering length for me — I’ve learned that 22-23″ is my sweet spot length. I also really like the loose mock neck, the seaming up the front and back, and the generous sleeve length with extra long ribbed cuffs.
This sweater is just so comfy and easy, and the fit is perfect. Not too clingy, not too boxy. It’s a nice neutral color too, and it runs true to size.
VERDICT: This one came home with me!
Pistola Denim Quinn Pullover
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Veja Esplar (39)
Details: Mixed cable knit details define the Quinn Pullover from Pistola, featuring a crew neckline and a slightly cropped and relaxed silhouette.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 20 1/2″
- Material: 55% Cotton, 23% Nylon, 17% PBT, 5% Wool Knit
- Care: Machine Wash,Wash Cold,Dry Flat
I love the mixed cable pattern and the chunky textured knit on this pullover sweater, and it’s a nice quality, but it’s too short and tight on me. See how 20 1/2″ is pushing it… the length makes all the difference. I can get away with this length if the other proportions are perfect, but this one just makes me feel overall kind of like a stuffed sausage.
Granted, I think it’s too small, but I didn’t go back for the medium because I didn’t think I’d like it; the neckline is kind of high and tight, and the sleeves are already quite long, and the chunky knit seems to add visual bulk.
VERDICT: I found enough other things to love at Evereve that day, so I left this one in the store.
Sanctuary Fair Isle Crewneck Sweater
at Evereve & Nordstrom (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Veja Esplar (39)
Details: An oversized fit brings endless comfort to this wooly crewneck sweater with a traditional Fair-Isle pattern for timeless style.
- 22 1/2″ length (size Medium)
- 46% acrylic, 38% recycled polyester, 11% polyester, 5% wool
- Machine wash, line dry
I was drawn to this fair isle sweater the instant I saw it online. There’s just something about the color combination and pattern that I love, it has more of a feminine appeal than the typical fair isle sweater, and I thought I would like the flared sleeves and looser fit, but now that I see it in photos, I feel like it’s kind of shapeless.
And wait. Are those hearts I see? Say it ain’t so… I didn’t notice until this very moment, as I’m writing this post and seeing these photos. I do believe they are.
VERDICT: I did buy this sweater; in fact, I took photos for the blog, but I’m not sure I want to keep it. In fact, even though I didn’t notice the hearts in the blog photos, I didn’t love how it looked on me. Here’s a sneak peek…
Dangit, now all I see is hearts, lol!!! I also just don’t care for the way it hangs on me. Even though it was the femininity of it that appealed to me initially, now it just looks overall too cutesy and not quite my style. I don’t see myself reaching for it when I have so many other sweaters in my closet that I love.
Sundry Fairisle Crew Neck Sweater
at Evereve (S) // MOTHER Dazzler (29) // Veja Esplar (39)
Details: Elevate your seasonal style with this gorgeous Fair Isle sweater by Sundry, featuring a relaxed silhouette, crew neckline, and puff sleeves. Pair with boots and a denim skirt for a fall-forward look.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21 3/4″
- Material: 75% Polyester, 15% Acrylic, 7% Wool, 3% Elastane Knit
- Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
This is another sweater that caught my eye online, but didn’t quite measure up to my expectations once I tried it on. It’s also on the shorter side, but I think the length is okay; it’s just that the waistband of the sweater is kind of tight, and then it’s roomy in the shoulders and chest area. The colors are really pretty, and it’s that soft and spongy knit that I like, but something about the fit is off.
VERDICT: I did not purchase this sweater either.
Roscoe Metallic Top
at Evereve (S) // corudroy flares (29) // Marc Fisher pumps (8)
Details: Add some shine to your wardrobe with the Roscoe Metallic Top by EVEREVE, featuring a crew neckline, flattering cap sleeves, and a button closure in the back. You’ll love it paired with sling-back heels and cuffed jeans.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22 1/2″
- Material: 100% Polyester
- Care: Hand Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat
Okay, moving on from sweaters, this metallic top is such a good piece for the holidays! It’s festive but understated, and it has a subtle edgy vibe to it that I love. The muscle sleeve styling is right on trend, and it balances out my hips, which is why I tend to gravitate to this cut.
It’s the perfect 22 1/2″ length for leaving untucked, and it has a boxy fit, but the fabric has a nice drape to it, so it highlights my curves and creates a pleasing silhouette. I styled it here with black corduroy flares (40% off) and sleek black suede pumps (53% off) for a look I would wear to a holiday event or NYE party.
My faux fur jacket (20% off!) would be the perfect topper to this look, and it would also look good layered under a leather bomber or velvet blazer (with black jeans; I would not do corduroys and velve together).
VERDICT: Bought it, keeping it! Love this one.
KUT from the Kloth Goldie Coated Wide Leg
at Evereve (8) // Sanctuary Geo Print Blouse (M)
Details: A full-length wide leg and flattering high-rise fit define the Goldie pants by Kut From The Kloth, featuring raw hems, patch pockets, and sleek coated denim fabric for a leather-like look.
- Length: Full, Front Rise: 11″, Inseam Length: 31″
- Leg Opening: 28″Material: 59% Modal, 39% Polyester, 2% Lycra Coated Denim
- Care: Machine Wash
Yoiks! Okay, so I have this top and I haven’t worn it yet. (Mine is a small, but they didn’t have one in store, so I grabbed this medium, which is way too big.) I’m sure it would work with any of my black jeans, and they even style it with blue jeans on the website, but I had in my head that it would look amazing with coated black denim. I’ve been wanting to add some coated black denim flares to my closet to replace a pair that I had that became to small.
SO, I grabbed these off the rack as soon as I saw them in the store, but they are more of a wide leg than a flare, and they are sooooo long. (I do not believe the inseam is 31″; I was standing on my tippy-toes, which is usually the perfect length for me in a 3″ heel, and they were still dragging.) They do have a raw hem, so I could just cut them, but I didn’t care for the fit. They may be too big, too, but I didn’t go back for another size. I want more of a traditional flare leg, not this exaggerated wide leg flare. I’ve since ordered this pair to try, and I think it’s going to be much better… I’ll report back!
Sanctuary So Soft Sweater Dress
at Evereve (M) // Dolce Vita Raj Western Boots (8)
Details: This striped sweater dress by Sanctuary is the perfect addition to your fall wardrobe, crafted in a soft cotton-blend knit with long sleeves and ribbed trim. Add knee-high boots for a chic seasonal look.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 32 1/2″
- Material: 51% Cotton, 25% Acrylic, 21% Polyester, 3% Spandex Knit
- Care: Hand Wash, Wash Cold, Dry Flat
I always like to have a sweater dress or two in my closet for fall/winter, and this one caught my eye. Once again, it has raglan sleeves (yay!) And I really like this color palette, not that grey and black for winter is especially ground-breaking, but they are colors I wear a lot and feel good in, and I know exactly what color tights and footwear go with them.
So often, I love a dress, but I can’t figure out what to wear on my legs. It gets cold here in Pennsylvania, plus I don’t like the look of bare legs with a dress this short. It just seems incongruous.
I also like the feel of this knit, and I think the fit works okay for me. It does cling a big in the hip area, but I will wear it with shaping tights to help smooth things out and a slip to help it skim the body without clinging.
VERDICT: I bought this one, and we took some photos in it yesterday, so stay tuned to see it styled up the way I will wear it.
Dolce Vita Raj in Onyx Suede
at Evereve & Nordstrom (8) // Sanctuary sweater dress (M)
Details: A pointy toe and stacked block heel balance a knee-high boot rendered in supple suede for timeless appeal.
- 2 1/4″ heel
- Side zip closure with elastic gore inset
- Leather upper/synthetic lining and sole
I’ve been wanting a new pair of black boots, and when I decided to buy this dress, I knew I would need them sooner rather than later. I went out into the store to see what they had, and they just so happened to have this pair in my size.
I’m a longtime fan of Dolce Vita footwear, especially boots. They’re nice quality and very comfortable, so even though I think I would prefer something with more classic (not Western) styling, I didn’t want to take the time to look further, so I just bought these. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of them, even if I do end up buying something else that’s a little dressier/classic for other outfits.
Z Supply Carmela Sequin Dress
at Evereve (M)
Details: Perfectly party-ready, the Carmela Sequin Dress by Z Supply features a blouson silhouette, dolman sleeves, and a fitted faux wrap skirt with ruched sides for a flattering touch.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 33″
- Material: 92% Polyester, 8% Spandex
- Care: Machine Wash, Delicate / Gentle Cycle, Hang To Dry
So this dress, I’m conflicted about. I wanted to love it, but I think the way the sleeves and shoulders are designed adds visual weight to my top half, making me look out of proportion.
VERDICT: Maybe if I had tried it on with heels, I would have liked it better, but I didn’t purchase it. If I do find myself in need of a dress like this, I might order it to try at home with sheer tights and heels.
Z Supply Brooke Cardigan
at Evereve (XS) // Maddie Satin Skirt (M) // Dolce Vita Raj (8)
Details: Finished in a soft, textured knit, this cozy-chic cardigan by Z Supply features a button-front silhouette with a round neckline, cropped length, and long sleeves. Wear it buttoned up, or leave it open with a tank.
- Length from Shoulder to Hem: 20″
- Material: 38% Acrylic, 37% Polyester, 23% Nylon, 2% Spandex Knit
- Care: Hand Wash, Wash Cold
This sweater on its own didn’t really excite me, but I wanted to try this monochromatic look, so I grabbed it and the skirt. I do like the subtle color variation in the knit, and it’s very soft and comfy. I tried it first in the small, but the proportions looked off. I couldn’t imagine I could wear it in the XS, but the sales associate agreed, and she brought it back to me, and that’s what I’m wearing here. It looks much better.
VERDICT: I purchased this in the XS.
Maddie Satin Skirt
at Evereve (M) // Z Supply cardigan (XS) // Dolce Vita Raj (8)
Details: Crafted in sleek satin fabric, the Maddie skirt by EVEREVE is a chic day-to-night staple, featuring a midi silhouette with a hidden elastic waistband. You’ll love it paired with everything from a sweater and flats to a fitted tank and heels.
- Skirt Length: 34 1/2″
- Material: 100% Polyester Satin; Lining: 100% Polyester
- Care: Hand Wash, Hang To Dry
I was conflicted about this skirt at first, when I was trying it on in bare feet. The bias cut really isn’t the most flattering on me because I have wide hips in proportion to my legs, but once I had the boots brought back, and I tried it on again, I decided I like it. I at least wanted to shoot the look for the blog, so I purchased it.
Then my husband was looking at my Instagram the other day, and he saw the reel I made with all of these Evereve fitting room try-ons, where this photo is the cover, and he was like, “You’re not going to wear that, are you?”
Um, well… I was. 🤪
When I asked what he didn’t like about it, he said it was something about the sweater (I think it might have been the sweater/skirt combo, really) and that it looks frumpy. So that’s that. I was unsure about it, as it was, but that clinched it. We did photograph this outfit, though, and I think it’s a fun look for the right person.
