Hailey Bieber’s Instagram posts are like a chic game of I Spy. Every time she posts a carousel of off-duty selfies or BTS looks at events, I keep my eyes peeled for two things: her killer, trend-setting manicures, and sneak peeks at what the next Rhode launch could be. For example, she started teasing the brand’s Peptide Lip Tints with flashes of the colorful tubes, and dropped hints about the Pocket Blush for months with blushy selfies and unlabeled lab packaging.

Her newest product launch, however, has been a bit trickier to figure out. Bieber recently shared her first Instagram post since becoming a new mom, and in between photos of her effortless updo and deep blue “night sky” mani was a close-up shot of her face covered in a new Rhode skincare product. The next day, Rhode shared a photo of Bieber’s fall essentials, complete with a mini version of the brand’s usual gray tube covered up by an emoji.

Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long to crack the code. Today, the brand reveals its latest launch, Rhode Barrier Butter, is officially dropping on October 28. Ahead, we have all the details on the new product.

The Inspiration

Rhode built its brands on Hailey Bieber’s obsession with glazed donut skin, but now, the brand is entering it’s butter era. The brand launched with three curated products: the Peptide Lip Treatment, Peptide Glazing Fluid, and the Barrier Restore Cream. The Barrier Butter builds on the success of the brand’s beloved nourishing moisturizer. Where the Barrier Restore Cream (or BRC, as the brand calls it) can be used both day and night, Barrier Butter is designed to be an intensive overnight treatment for deep hydration.

"Barrier Butter is a buttery-smooth formula that helps strengthen the skin barrier and seal in moisture for up to 24 hours, restoring skin's natural softness and bounce," says the brand. You can use Barrier Butter all over your face, but also on any dry spots like hands, elbows, and knees. Because of this, the brand will be introducing two sizes: “On-the-Go” at 1.35 oz., which retails for $22, and “On-the-Shelf” at 5 oz. for $38. The launch's campaign features none other than iconic supermodel Claudia Schiffer.

The Formula

The moisture balm is packed with 13 ingredients to promote plump, toned skin, and help strengthen the skin’s barrier. The brand also claims that Barrier Butter can seal in moisture for up to 24 hours. The buttery formula includes five molecular weights of hyaluronic acid for deep hydration on and below the skin’s surface. Polyglutamic acid works as a humectant to draw moisture into the skin, and keep in locked in for hydration and plumpness. Murumuru butter, a favorite of the brand, helps nourish the skin and seal in moisture, and ceramides help strengthen the skin’s barrier.

Barrier Butter is dermatologist-tested, non-comedogenic, and has the Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association.
